BURNSVILLE, Minn. – As Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues, more Americans are making donations to help the Ukrainian people. Unfortunately, scammers are taking advantage of the situation.
Bao Vang with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Minnesota recommends that before you make a donation, you do your homework.
“Check to see if the charity already has a presence in Ukraine, not all relief organizations will be positioned to impact the area,” Vang said.
Vang also said beware of exaggerated or misleading claims of where your donations are going. She says it’s a good idea to visit give.org to find out more about charitable organizations you’re considering donating to.
