MAPLETON, N.D. (KFGO) – A multi-vehicle, weather-related crash closed I-94 west of West Fargo Monday. The interstate between West Fargo and Casselton will remain closed until the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) is able to clear the scene.
NDHP Lieutenant Troy Hischer said he believes five semi-trucks and eight other vehicles were involved in the crash.
“It all started with a two vehicle crash between passenger vehicles. A semi struck them when they were in the road, and more vehicles piled in at the Durbin overhead,” Hischer said.
The Durbin overhead is a “dead” interstate overpass, meaning it has no on/off ramp access, located about halfway between Mapleton and Casselton.
Hischer said approximately six people were injured in the accident and all have been transported to Fargo hospitals. The extent
of their injuries has not been released.
Cass County deputies, Casselton and Mapleton Fire, and the West Fargo Rural Fire Departments were among the responding agencies.
