Interim Minneapolis Police Chief Amelia Huffman (City of Minneapolis)
MINNEAPOLIS – It’s a big job. The city of Minneapolis is in the process of hiring 190 new police officers.
The Interim Police Chief Amelia Huffman says recruitment is being stepped up. The city has less than six months to fill the openings. The big recruitment push is coming in the middle of a surge of violent crime.
One study which will be presented to the city council next month shows how officers routinely respond to calls that don’t require an armed response.
