BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – As Omicron cases sweep North Dakota, state health officials say they have also seen a rapid increase in flu cases.
Kirby Kruger, the disease control and forensic pathology section chief for the state Department of Health, says while cases have come down in the past several weeks, they are still high.
Last week, there were 1,131 new flu cases reported bringing the season total to more than 6,600,
Last week there were 35 flu hospitalizations raising the seasonal total to 133. One person died of flu-related complications over the last week. A total of 8 people in North Dakota have died since the flu season began this season.
Most of the cases so far have been Type A Influenza.
