KINDRED, N.D. (KFGO) – Voters in the Kindred School District approved a $26.4 million bond referendum. It needed 60 percent of the votes to pass and received 63.4 percent.
School Superintendent Steve Hall says the vote will allow much-needed added space for the district’s growth. The district has been averaging 20 new students a year for the past 10 years. The current enrollment has 831 students in grades K-12.
The expansion will include an addition and remodeling to the elementary school and creating a central office area. This will become the grades for pre-kindergarten through-5 elementary school A middle school addition will be added to the existing high school for grades 6 through 8, The current high school built in 2012 now has grades 7 through 12.
The middle school addition will have 15 classrooms, an art room, a 650 seat auditorium, gym, and wrestling room.
Hall says the projects should be completed by the winter of 2023-2024.
