District 1 – Baudette area

CO Ben Huener (Roseau) checked waterfowl hunters, grouse hunters and a bear hunter throughout the week. Grouse hunting remains slow and duck hunting has been decent for those putting in the work to hunt the low water. Citations for the week include hunting without a license and transporting a loaded firearm.
CO Corey Sura (Baudette East) spent the week checking anglers, waterfowl hunters, grouse and hunters. He also worked on resolving a property-boundaries dispute. Fishing success in the area has been moderate, with water temperatures higher than usual for this time of year. Enforcement action was taken for an overlimit of walleyes, possessing illegal-length walleyes, transporting a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle and waterfowl hunting without the appropriate license/stamp.
CO Ryan Brown (Karlstad) worked primary small-game enforcement with a better report from hunters of bird populations compared to the past weeks. Brown also investigated a complaint of an ATV in a wildlife management area. ATV activity was monitored in the area with a few violations. Calls were fielded pertaining to the rifle deer season and requirements for firearms safety for youth. He gave a law and ethics talk to a firearm safety class in Halma.
CO Jeremy Woinarowicz (Thief River Falls West) participated in a call-in radio program speaking on small-game and waterfowl regulations. He also monitored ATV trails and checked area waterfowl hunters. Enforcement action was taken for an open alcohol container on an ATV on a public road, operating an ATV without headlights, no helmet on a juvenile ATV passenger, transporting watercraft with the bilge plug intact, unplugged shotgun and no federal waterfowl.
CO Tony Elwell (Thief River Falls East) checked big-game and small-game hunters this week. A trespass complaint was investigated.
CO Demosthenes Regas (Blackduck South) reports checking deer, duck and grouse hunters, as well as anglers on special regulation lakes this past week. Time was spent patrolling area ATV trails and ATV-complaint areas. He also investigated ATV trespassing and assisted Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks investigators with an investigation.
CO Nicholas Prachar (Blackduck North) reports in increase in hunting activity throughout the area. Time was spent working big-game activity and patrolling for grouse hunters.

District 2 – Bemidji area

CO Tom Hutchins (Crookston) reports working on additional water-related cases this week. Time was also spent checking anglers, duck hunters, and bear hunters. Various waterfowl and big-game violations were encountered.
CO Brice Vollbrecht (Bemidji #1) checked area lakes for angling activity and followed up on complaints of individuals hunting waterfowl in the Bemidji Game Refuge. He also assisted Montana conservation officers with interviews related to a big-game investigation.
CO Chris Vinton (Perham) traveled out of station to continue work on a CO Prep background investigation.
CO Jake Swedberg (Detroit Lakes) spent the week checking archery hunters and following up on several ongoing cases. Swedberg also followed up on multiple burning complaints over the week and took enforcement action on fires containing prohibited materials. Other time was spent on squad maintenance and checking anglers.
CO Steve Chihak (Moorhead) spent the week working fishing, waterfowl- and small-game hunting and ATV enforcement. Time was also spent responding to miscellaneous wildlife-related complaints.
CO Angie Warren (Mahnomen) worked waterfowl and small-game-hunting activity. Patrol was conducted for ATVs and off-road vehicles. Warren monitored activity in area wildlife management areas and waterfowl production areas. The law and ethics portion of firearms safety was taught in Fosston.
CO Bill Landmark (Pelican Rapids) spent the week working on a background investigation and following up on ongoing cases.

District 3 – Fergus Falls area

CO Tricia Plautz (Henning) worked on a background investigation most of the week. She also took calls about injured wildlife and is investigating an algae bloom on an area lake.
CO Andrew Goodman (Elbow Lake) spent time checking anglers and waterfowl hunters. The agricultural harvest is in full swing. It has moved wildlife around and created an uptick in hunting activity. Angling success remains variable on area lakes. Additional time was spent on AIS and ATV enforcement. During a routine ATV-registration check, Goodman discovered one ATV operator was impaired. Enforcement action for the week included an ATV DWI and violation of a restoration order.
CO Shane Osborne (Evansville) checked anglers, waterfowl hunters and ATV riders. Several deer-season and -tagging questions were received and answered. A hunter-access complaint was investigated. It turned out to be a civil issue with the township and neighboring landowners.
CO Brian Holt (Osakis) monitored recreational vehicle activity during the week. Time was also spent checking anglers and waterfowl hunters. Holt worked a hunter-harassment complaint and continued working on a background investigation.
CO Hanna Wood (Wheaton) spent the past week working on her assigned background investigation and assisting with the TIP line.
CO Emily Douvier (Morris) reports working waterfowl-hunter and recreational vehicle enforcement. Douvier is also spending time completing a background investigation.
CO Daniel Baumbarger (Glenwood) reports enforcement efforts for the week were concentrated on checking anglers and bowhunters, and monitoring AIS law compliance. Baumbarger handled nuisance-beaver issues and several injured-animal calls. Additional time was spent following up on wetland violations and checking ATV operators.

District 4 – Walker area

CO Calie Kunst (Remer) spent time checking ATV riders and anglers on the lakes in the area. Various violations were found and enforcement actions were taken.
CO Patrick McGowan (Walker) patrolled Cass and Crow Wing county lakes for angling activity. Enforcement action was taken for numerous angling and boating violations.
CO Nick Baum (Park Rapids) patrolled the area for hunting, angling, and recreational vehicle traffic. He took enforcement action for various hunting and aquatic plant violations. Baum found varying success among small-game hunters. He met a lot of ATV riders out riding to view the fall colors.
CO Michael Cross (Lake George) worked big-game hunting, waterfowl hunting, and angling. There was plenty of activity out and many people were seen enjoying the nice fall weather. Enforcement action was taken for multiple big-game violations and waterfowl violations.
CO Jacque Hughes (Longville) worked hunting activity. Enforcement was taken for trespass, hunting without a license, and various other waterfowl-hunting violations.
CO Mark Mathy (Cass Lake) reports it was a busy week with many hunters and anglers enjoying the nice weather. Anglers continued to have success while duck and grouse hunters were having a more difficult time finding birds. Mathy also assisted with a large big-game investigation.
