FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State head softball coach Darren Mueller announced the addition of outfielder Faith Daehlin, infielder Carley Goetschius and infielder Avery Steffen to the Bison program on Tuesday, July 13.
Daehlin, Goetschius and Steffen will join the Bison this fall along with right-handed pitcher Savy Williams and infielder Chloe Woldruff, who signed letters of intent with NDSU in November.
Daehlin, a switch-hitter from Lakeville, Minn., was an all-section performer and all-conference honorable mention for Lakeville North High School in 2021. She hit .357, stole 11 bases in 11 attempts, scored 24 runs, and threw out four runners from the outfield. An academic all-state honoree, Daehlin plans to study equine science at NDSU.
Goetschius, originally from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, S.D., is transferring to NDSU from Northern Illinois, where she played three seasons for the Huskies in the Mid-American Conference from 2019 to 2021. The right-handed hitting Goetschius hit .271 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs last season and was named to the Academic All-MAC team majoring in accountancy.
Steffen, a left-handed hitter from Zumbrota, Minn., was a two-time all-state and three-time all-conference and all-section performer with a .478 career batting average with 27 home runs for Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School. Steffen earned first team all-state honors in 2021 hitting .540 with 11 home runs, 24 RBIs and 45 runs scored. She also had a 15-3 pitching record with a 1.02 ERA and 185 strikeouts in 109 innings. Steffen plans to major in radiological sciences at NDSU.
North Dakota State, winner of eight Summit League regular season championships and 10 of the past 12 Summit League tournaments, has advanced to 10 NCAA Division I regionals in program history. NDSU was 16-29 last season and placed third in the league with an 11-12 record.
