Anglers are catching nice numbers of a variety fish, including walleye, northern pike, panfish and bass.
Walleye anglers are having success using jigs and minnows, but fish are also responding to live bait rigs with crawlers or leeches. Crappies and sunnies are eager to bite in the shallows, and bass action is heating up. Expect great multi-species action over the next few weeks.
The skies will be mostly sunny this weekend, with highs in the mid-60s. Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Northwest Region
Walleye action remains very good. Jigs and shiners are generally the best presentation this time of year, but fish are responding to crawlers and leeches as well. Anglers are having success in 6-14 feet of water. Most crappies and sunnies can still be found in the shallows.

Central Region
Walleye anglers are having the most success using jigs and minnows, but some are now taking fish on live bait rigs with crawlers or leeches. Most crappies and bluegills are in the midst of their spawn. While they are easy to catch, please return the larger females to maintain a healthy population.

Northeast Region
Walleye fishing has been good throughout the region. While a jig and minnow combination is typically best this time of year, a slip sinker rig with a leech or crawler is also turning fish and will soon out-produce a jig and minnow. Crappie fishing remains great in the shallows, and the bass bite is heating up!
