FARGO (KFGO) – West Fargo-based Industrial Builders has been awarded a $67-million federal contract to raise about four miles of I-29 as part of the FM Diversion Project.
The announcement was made in Fargo by Sen. John Hoeven, who was joined by Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Gov. Doug Burgum. The mayors of Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo and others were also on hand.
Hoeven said raising the grade on the interstate is a major milestone for the flood control project and is the first step in building the Red River Structure, the most important element of the project.
So far, the $2.75-billion project has received $310-million in federal construction money.
The North Dakota Legislature this week also included $435-million for the project in the bonding bill, legislation that Gov. Burgum said Fri. he will sign.
