WATERTOWN, SD (KFGO KWAT) – Watertown police arrested three people after a strange twist of events this week.
Officers were called to a parking lot Tuesday night on a report of possible drug activity.
When officers got there, some of the people had left the scene, and made a call to the police dispatch center saying a gunman had entered a business.
It turns out that was a false report, and no such incident was occurring.
Officers continued their investigation at the parking lot and executed search warrants on three cars, a camper and a fish house.
They found meth and drug paraphernalia during the investigation, and determined the fish house had been stolen from North Dakota.
Police arrested 30-year-old Steven Barnes, 37-year-old Stephan Bergeron and 19-year-old Alicia Mitzel, all from Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
They face numerous charges including making terroristic threats, filing a false police report, ingesting a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia.
