MINNEAPOLIS (KFGO WCCO) – One of the most legendary off-the field sports figures in Minnesota history has died. Sid Hartman worked 75 years for the Star Tribune newspaper and 65 years with WCCO Radio. Hartman was 100.
Hartman grew up in north Minneapolis. Hartman had described his early life as difficult. He said over the years that the neighborhood where he lived as a boy was very poor. His father was an immigrant from Russia.
While continuing to write for the Star Tribune, Hartman also co-hosted “The Sports Huddle, heard Sunday mornings for more than 30 years on flagship WCCO in Minneapolis and KFGO. He delivered the newspaper while growing up.
Hartman’s son, Chad, is a radio host on WCCO.
