He knew. Then he lied and then he got caught.
On February 7th, President Donald Trump admitted to Bob Woodward that he knew how dangerous COVID-19 was. He knew that it could cost far more lives than the flu. The same flu that he and his party compared it to. He knew the virus didn’t care who you were or what your age was.
That isn’t what he told the American people. In fact he told us just the opposite. He said it was just a couple of people. He also said it would just go away.
It didn’t. He lied.
That shouldn’t surprise anyone. He lied before and lied often. The problem is that this lie costed lives. Not to mention what it did to the people that lived.
Trump’s lack of leadership sent the economy into a tailspin. It took kids out of schools. And it cost Americans a timely return to their normal lives. Most of which just deserved leadership.
Now let’s visit about Trump calling our soldiers suckers and losers. Unnamed sources told Jeff Goldberg of The Atlantic that President Trump wouldn’t attend a ceremony at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in Paris because of rain. Rain I might add that didn’t stop any other world leaders.
The President in a conversation with senior staff the morning of the visit stated, “Why should I go to that cemetery?” He pointed out that he felt the cemetery was ‘filled with losers.’ Then in a separate conversation he called 1,800 soldiers that died to stop the Germans from getting to Paris in WWI ‘suckers’ for getting killed.
He of course denied it.
I’d believe him if he hadn’t done it before. The world saw what he called John McCain. A man that truly was an American hero. McCain was a prisoner of war in Vietnam. He refused to be released from that prison until his fellow soldiers were. All that after being tortured so bad he couldn’t lift his arms the rest of his life above his soldiers.
That’s an American hero. Not someone whose father bought him out of the draft at a time when his country called upon his service. Not a man that would denigrate the men and women willing to die for that country.
In retrospect, I never would have believed him.
Good riding with you.
