If you are charging forward with wedding plans amidst a global pandemic, good for you! No, it may not look like the wedding you had envisioned, but at the end of the day, you will be married. And, that was always the ultimate goal.
Many people who are opting for a more socially distant wedding have made a streaming platform part of the day so those who are miles away can still watch the ceremony – and even the reception.
This is a great idea! But, here’s my one piece of advice: FIND A HOST! Hire a professional or, at the least, designate a person to be in charge of the stream… just like you do with the photos, cake table, program distribution and gifts.
I have been a part of a few “Zoom” weddings, and it is so wonderful to be able to watch and feel like you were a part of the big day. However, without someone overseeing the operation, it can feel confusing and disjointed to the guests.
Every great show has a host! Make sure your wedding does too.
This person can map out what the guests will see, listen to and take part in. Make a schedule for the virtual part of the wedding and send it to the guests in advance. (And, at the very least, the host can make sure everyone’s microphone is off, so not to interrupt the ceremony for the rest of the guests.)
A “Virtual Host” or “Zoom Host” (whatever you want to call them) ensures you can enjoy the big day. And, your guests can as well.
