The Minnesota State High School League Board of Directors announced high school football and volleyball will move to the spring for the 2020-21 school year.
The board approved to have girls tennis, cross country, girls swimming and diving, boys and girls soccer this fall.
Football and volleyball would have their season from mid-March to Mid-May and can hold practices during the fall.
Football was voted down 12-6 by the board to begin as scheduled this fall.
Volleyball was tied 9 apiece after the original vote to begin as scheduled, then the board voted 11-7 to move to the spring.
MSHSL will have a new sports calendar plan.

Fans will not be allowed for indoor sports at school facilities, this complies with the Minnesota Department of Education policy of not allowing visitors during school hours.
MODIFICATIONS
Girls and boys soccer:
- Practices being August 17
- 30% reduction in games, with no scrimmages and contests limited to 1-2 per week.
Girls tennis and girls swimming and diving:
- Practices being August 17.
- Limit to 2 teams per event and 1-2 contests per week.
Cross county:
- Practices being August 17.
- Limit to 3 teams per event and 1-2 contests per week.
