With a graduation unlike any other I’ve had plenty of discussions on advice for the future. But really who can proclaim to know what tomorrow may bring let alone five or ten years down the road?
It’s with that I’m brought back to the song from back in the day, “Wear Sunscreen”
It’s tongue in cheek advice which falls back to about the most sound advice.
Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing
Bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that
Never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4 PM on some idle TuesdayWe don’t really know the best recipe to forge a better tomorrow.
But wearing sunscreen is sure to help. It’s almost a defeatist attitude but at the same point it comes back to a fundamental of protecting your heart, mind, body and soul. So my advice to graduates is give the song a listen and then seek God’s plan in your life.
Take the best steps forward into this world you can. Love God, love your family. Work hard. Life doesn’t owe you anything. Be honest. Create the person you’d want to be friends with. Repeat.
