Near as I can tell there are three different groups dealing with this Coronavirus. There’s the group that’s taking advice from the officials and gone into complete lock-down. There’s the group in the middle that’s doing everything they can while still going to work. Then there’s the group that just doesn’t give a damn.
The first group are the ones that are doing the most. By far, they’ll be the most responsible for saving lives. That’s because they’re paying the highest price. Imagine being held up in an apartment or house with nobody visiting you other than the grocery delivery guy. Add kids to that mix, and it’s even a bigger challenge.
The second group also cares. Some of them choose to go to work and some have no choice. They wash their hands every chance they can. They stay at least six feet away from everyone. They wipe down their work area before and after they use it. And they wear masks even if they’re the same color as a Packer uniform. As soon as they get done, they head straight home. This group is obviously helping but there’s no guarantee that they’re not part of the problem.
Then there’s that third group. They think it’s all a hoax (I wonder where they got that idea). They refuse to change any part of their lives. Doing exactly what they want, when they want to do it. Except, of course, going to the bar.
If you got them alone, they’d tell you it’s nature’s way. That many of those old people were going to die soon anyway. They’d also tell you that whatever lives are lost aren’t worth what they’re doing to our economy. As if the economy couldn’t come back from this pandemic.
It’s that group that’ll certainly cost lives. They’re so entitled they couldn’t even give up spring break or their Easter service. It was the biggest fundraiser of the year and it was time to pass the bucket. Point being, they don’t care what they do to others because they’re immune.
I know people in every one of those groups. I also know I’m in the second. It’s hard to preach from there.
But it isn’t hard to hope.
Good riding with you.
