I’m not exactly sure if that’s the proper name for it, but some of my family and friends are having a whale of a good time going through old photographs and sharing them through Facebook.
I’m currently involved in three different ones, two that deal with small towns I lived in as a child, and the other deals with my father’s side of the family. And they can cross over sometimes too.
It all started for me when I got a P/M from my aunt that featured my dad on stage in a blouse and skirt. WHAT!!! I had lived in the town of Newfolden Minnesota as a toddler and my father owned an auto body repair shop. I was told it was a Lion’s Club skit and what he was doing in that “get-up” I don’t know. But it was a story I never heard about my father. He passed away in his mid 60’s and I had never ever dreamed he would have put on an outfit like that. Oh I heard some Korean conflict stories, tales of growing up on the farm (he broke his wrist falling off a cow). But not the skirt.
There was even a story of him and a few friends stealing a teacher’s car and painting it pink and then putting it back in her driveway. It’s a story I’ll have to tell you again later.
I had some old pictures of my mother in her high school and college days I posted on another site that focused on the small town where she grew up.
The last page I belong too, focuses on those that have passed on my father’s side of the family. He was one of 7 siblings and I’ve got a lot of cousins, and we’re all happy to see those early pics.
Oh…he had a hat too….And a necklace! DAD!!!!
Below my Dad’s family…The little squirt on the first step is me!
Not only will you have fun…you’ll straighten out the old photo storage box too.
