MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO) – Minnesota State University-Moorhead says the equivalent of 66-and-a-half positions will be cut to deal with a $6 million spending gap.
The proposed cuts include 43 faculty positions, 20-and-a-half staff positions and 3 administrators. The plan also includes the closure or suspension of 10 academic majors, including the university’s Theatre Arts Program.
The reductions would take place over the next two fiscal years.
MSUM says students currently enrolled in the affected programs will be able to complete their degrees.
Employees were told about the budget projections in February, before the effects of COVID-19. There are currently 632 full-time employees.
