BISMARCK, N.D.- Job Service North Dakota is now able to accept additional new pandemic related claim types that were recently passed with the federal CARES ACT.
Online claims can now be established for independent contractors, gig workers, self-employed individuals and workers who have exhausted regular unemployment insurance benefits.
Individuals who are eligible for regular benefits will continue to apply for regular unemployment benefits, individuals who have used up all benefits can apply for Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation which offers a 13-week extension while those not eligible for regular benefits can apply for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance.
Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation, which will provide an additional $600 per week to each unemployment benefit payment, will automatically apply to all claims.
Even though claims are being accepted, the United States Department of Labor has yet to provide guidance for them to be fully processed. States have been advised not to process or pay benefits until receiving required rules and guidelines. Information is expected to be given to agencies within the week.
Those seeking benefits should go to Jobsnd.com to apply.
