Somebody asked me why I’m so passionate about this war against the coronavirus. That one was easy to explain. I have a wife that’s a registered nurse, a daughter that’s a nurse practitioner and a brother-in-law that’s a doctor. Every one of them has administered a test for COVID-19. Every one of them has been on the front lines.
I don’t think medicine is the type of job you fall into. It isn’t a job that one day you say, ‘I’ll give it a try.’ Some might even say it’s a calling.
The people with that kind of passion don’t run away from a disease. They run towards it. It’s about an oath that they took. They gave their word. For many of us, that oath means everything.
That’s why it’s so hard when others don’t live up to their oath. When you break your word to the American people it matters. When you use their health and fears for political purposes, it’s wrong.
This crisis our country is going through isn’t just a hoax. It isn’t going to just disappear. And we were never going to have our normal life back by Easter.
What people are looking for is honesty. That’s why Dr. Fauci matters. He’s another person that clearly believes in his oath. When, and let’s hope soon, we find that light at the end of the tunnel it’ll be Dr. Fauci that sees it first.
Until then, we’ll just have to believe the people that put their right hand to God.
Well, some at least.
Good riding with you.
