PUBLIC STATEMENT FROM 3/12/2020
At West Acres, the health and safety of our guests, tenants and employees is always our top priority.
There is growing concern about the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and along with you, we are monitoring the situation closely. We are following the CDC and World Health Organization for updates and guidance, and we are in touch with local and regional officials regarding the matter.
The situation is changing rapidly and we will continue to monitor and make decisions on a daily basis. As it develops, we will continue to keep the public informed of updates from West Acres.
We do not take our role in our community lightly. West Acres is home to over 100 businesses, of which more than 30 are locally owned. Every decision we make impacts thousands of people. As of today, West Acres will remain open; however, there will be changes in our overall operation of the mall. We are taking additional safety measures including in our cleaning procedures, and as a cautionary step we are cancelling scheduled events through the remainder of March. Our stores are also being given the power to adjust their operations, including being open or closed, based on what is right for them.
The cleanliness of West Acres is one of the key pillars of our company. Our team works hard daily to ensure the mall is kept to the highest standard of cleanliness. In addition to our normal cleaning routines, we have taken measures to ramp up our efforts to be even more frequent, specifically in high traffic areas. Guests will also find hand sanitizer stations throughout the mall.
The CDC recommends everyday preventive actions to avoid the spread of respiratory disease – wash your hands frequently and distance yourself from those who are coughing or sick. We are empowering our team members to stay home if they are ill or may have been exposed to COVID-19.
Our retailers and restaurants have individual measures they are taking to ensure the safety of their employees and customers including asking employees to stay home when sick. We support them in their efforts.
Lastly and importantly, if you, our valued customer, are not feeling well or feel you may have been exposed to COVID-19, we ask that you please stay home for your own wellbeing and that of your fellow community members.
We will continue to post updates on our website (westacres.com) as the situation evolves. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We are grateful for you and your shared efforts to keep yourself and our community safe.
