It’s been a long time since we’ve done this but I’m going to try to get these posted on a more consistent basis.
These are actual articles that appeared in newspapers 100 years ago on May 2nd 1919. The first two you see sound very familiar and might seem like they’re from 2019. But they are 100 years old.
Up first from Seattle, while we still talk about 4 day and even a few 3 day work weeks. Some were fighting for a 5 day work week 100 years ago.
Terrorist acts were talking place, in an all to familiar scenario in 1919,
World War I was over but taxes were still be levied to help pay for the war effort. A small battle on declaring a corset and underwear a luxury, and whether or not it should be taxed.
And what an odd name for a North Carolina Newspaper. I doubt it still exists!
None of the above is fake. It was all in print in May 2nd 1919!
