5/1/19 UPDATE: The game will be held in the West Fargo High School gym, 801 9th St. E.
The West Fargo Packers will debut their unified flag football team, making West Fargo High School the first school in the metro to bring inclusive school-based sports for students with and without intellectual disabilities through Unified Sports®.
In this podcast: Kathy Meagher, President/ CEO of Special Olympics North Dakota joins IT2 to talk about the importance of this event!
“Athletes with intellectual disabilities want to compete on a sports team, wear the
name and colors for their high school, just like their classmates. Offering Unified Sports as a school-based
program, not only allows our athletes that opportunity, but also helps to solidify the inclusion the schools are
striving for. We are proud to have West Fargo High School assisting in leading this effort!”
Flag football is “kicking-off” as being the newest sport offered by Special Olympics North Dakota as a school-
based sport. West Fargo High School has 15 Special Olympics athletes, and 18 partners. They have spent the
month of April having practices and will split into two teams to show off their skills at the showcase game.
You are invited to cheer the athletes on!
