In this podcast: Former West Fargo Mayor Rich Mattern and KFGO Newsman Don Haney join Amy & JJ to talk about the Sheyenne Diversion.
The Sheyenne Diversion is 27 years old, but conversations of it’s inception happened decades before it was a reality.
With water continuing to creep in around the Harwood area this spring, closing roads and causing some headaches once again… you have to wonder: Why wasn’t Harwood included in the Sheyenne Diversion plans? Mattern says it just came down to cost.
Harwood feels the impacts of the Sheyenne, Maple, Rush and Lower Ruse Rivers and some overland flooding from the Red River.
2019 proves to be far less dramatic than 2011, when we say a portion of i29 close near Harwood for 5 days. However, the FM Diversion project plans to reduce the impacts of flooding in the Harwood area.
