Although all of Minnesota’s border states allow 2 rods during open water fishing, Minnesota is a hold out.
In this podcast: Scott Brewer, of Gone Outdoors, which can be heard every Saturday on KFGO at 11am, joins Amy Iler & Tyler Axness to talk about MN fishing regulations.
Brewer says, “… I don’t know if there is a biological reason it can’t happen, considering they manage the population with limits… there are even discussions about dropping some of the existing limits.”
Brewer notes that one of the biggest advantages for anglers would be time. The ability to drop several presentations will allow some to find the fish quicker. However, others are concerned with a new law like this, every angler would get their limit.
While the Minnesota Senate did pass a bill allowing 2 rods per angler, the House version did not include the same language. Therefore, there have been no changes in the law (yet).
