Those people living in North Dakota with felonies on their records could have them sealed after today (August 1st).
In this podcast: Adam Martin, from the F5 Project, explains the new law and why it’s important to those the F5 project serves.
If an individual has a non-violent felony (so, violet crimes, crimes against children, etc. are excluded) on their record and has completed probation (3-5 years) and has a clean record for another 5 years, that person will have the ability to petition the court to have the record sealed.
Adam says he is beginning the process of having a felony sealed with local attorney Mark Friese to learn about the process so he can teach and help others through it.
Adam says this is vital to helping those with records have a better chance at getting a job and housing, a vital step to lowering the chances they reoffend.
