How do idealistic, driven-for-success people turn a corner? And, why?
Who better to speak to the issue than someone who has been there.
In this podcast: Chuck Gallagher is a nationally-known speaker on the topic of ethics. He was convicted of running a Ponzi scheme and went to prison.
“It starts small”
Gallagher says, “it’s need, followed by opportunity and rationalization.” After some time, this “3-legged-stool” as he describes, “gets easier to stand on”
As to whether or not he feels empathy/ sympathy for these people caught up in scandals, he says, “I recognize what they’re going through… everybody has a challenge… we can be a victim or a victor.” So, he believes if they accept full responsibility for the stupidity of their actions, they will be able to have a meaningful life.
