Dr. Derine Winning makes her monthly trek to the KFGO studios to join It Takes Two with Amy and JJ to answer listeners questions about the health of their furry friend.

Dr. Winning takes a question about a dog who is scared of hardwood floors. Her advice is to take things with baby steps. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Use positive reinforcement and get a foot at a time. Remember that dogs don’t like the slippery surface of hardwood. Put down rubber backed mats to get them used to the environment and lots of praise when your pooch does enter the area.
It’s also that time of year when you need to get your act together when it comes to flea/tick prevention as well as continuing the heart worm treatments. Discuss changes in your animals behavior with your doctor. This isn’t just for dogs, your kitty needs protection as well!
