The United States has already seen over 700 cases of measles this year and it has families across country wondering if their current measles vaccinations should be upped with a booster.
Benton Nesemeier, Field Epidemiologist with the North Dakota Department of Health, shares some information about the measles vaccine and what to do if you are unsure about treatment.
If you can not remember if you received the measles vaccine, ask your doctor for a blood test. If you were born before 1950, odds are you were exposed to measles at some point in your life and that removes a good amount of worry.

Individuals who had occupations associated with areas that might be more prone to measles (eduction, hospitals, etc) were, typically, given the double dose. Two separate shots about a month apart.
The signs of measles are fever, dry cough, runny nose, sore throat, tiny white spots inside the mouth – if you see any of these symptoms, seek medical treatment immediately. Measles can be spread through the air and is extremely contagious.
