Just by saying that we were going to taste test the new plant based alternative to beef, The Impossible Whopper, the calls and text messages started rolling in. Callers told us we might as well eat dog food, others said that Eric and JJ were not qualified to provide a taste test because they ordered the burgers plain. Even more said they thought the burger was ok or tough or they could not tell the difference.
As our taste test commenced, the first thing that came to mind was the price. Almost $13 for two Impossible Whoppers. That’s a lot of scratch for two burgers…
Eric nailed the review with the following idea – if you handed him the Impossible Whopper without telling him it was plant based, he wouldn’t think twice about eating it. Compared side by side, bite by bite – you can tell the difference. Dry and a small difference in consistency, the Impossible Whopper can pass itself off as a lower grade cafeteria burger.
Two meat eaters tried them, finished them and walked away saying “Yep, we tried it. We’ll have a real burger now, please. Hold the onions.”
