Foodie Friday – Apps for Grilling, Recipes and Preserving YOUR Kitchen History | The Mighty 790 KFGO

Amy Iler and JJ Gordon know that any great cook (or beginner) will live by their favorite recipes…but modern technology is giving those handed down notecards a brush up. We’ve selected three smartphone apps that can help you preserve your family recipes on the cloud, inspire new dishes with simple image based instructions and get your grill master smiling!

Weber App (free)

The folks who invented the kettle grill bring an app that is primed to excite any grill-er. Novice or master. Specifically made to pair with their wireless thermometer (iGrill) this dandy app has entire meals you can make on the grill. Recipes for appetizers to desserts all done from the comfort of your patio. It has a simple design and updates regularly. Including technology at the grill is their aim and the Weber corporation has a bullseye with this app.

Tasty App (free)

We’ve all seen the videos. Overhead shots of some amazing flavor combination. It always looks so easy and seems to be ready in less than 2 minutes…the people who bring you those delicious “Tasty” videos on social media made a companion app. Featuring dishes like “French Onion Soup Meatballs” or “Game Day Appetizers” – this app is filled with dinner party ideas for decades.

BigOven App (free, premium with monthly/yearly subscription)

Here is the game changer. This app, if you choose premium, will take images of your favorite recipes from generations past and transcribe them for you. Sending you a clean, neat and easily sharable version for future generations. BigOven also has a grocery list tab that will remind you what to pick up when you establish your menu for the week. Oh yeah, this one is for you beginner cooks out there – you can also look into your fridge, name three items and it will suggest a meal you can make from those leftovers. Thrifty! Yummy!
