Cases of E Coli have been reported in Georgia, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia with patients from 1 to 81 years of age. The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention are working hard to find some similarities in the diets of more than 80 sick people, but as of now they have not found any leads.

In order to protect the general public, officials are urging people to steam, bake, broil, fry and prepare all foods so as to kill off any E coli bacteria that may be on anything from beef to lettuce.

Julie Garden-Robinson from NDSU Extension explains that even liquid products like raw milk could be the culprit – one of the many things considered when tracking down the outbreak’s source.
