Matt King, a Cass County Sheriff’s Deputy, is on the cutting edge of 21st century law enforcement. Along with his pro-sumer level drone, Matt’s drone takes to the skies and asses situations that previously put police or firefighters in danger.
A perfect example, the drone can lift off and check out the integrity of a rooftop during a fire without putting a human being in danger and provide needed information about hot spots and building condition that save critical minutes and man power as the plan is put together.
In the case of the flood fight, the drone can be dispatched to fly just inches above the water, providing real time and high definition video about log or ice jams, conditions that boats can not reach or take on a task that used to be deemed too risky. The drone is equipment allowing the Cass County Sheriff’s Department to be the best they can be.
Matt also noted that this is not spy equipment. The drone isn’t being used to just fly up and see if they can spot a crime. There is a clear channel that needs to be followed involving a warrant, the same way traditional police work has been handled for many years.
As part of our interview, we asked Matt if the drone had a name. He told us that no name has been chosen, so we invited our listeners to text in with names. The following are at the top of the list!
Dro-nut
Cass Force One
Nosey
Drone-9
Droney McDroneFace (like that boat from social media)
