Think of what you accomplished as an 8, 9 or 10 year old. Now, get ready to meet a young person who has done more to help the world than most have…all before she was 10!
(Sawyer and her dad, Mark, in the KFGO studios)
Sawyer Anderson has written and illustrated a book called “Water Works” which tells her inspirational story of getting involved with the world.
After her father returned home from a trip to Zambia on a humanitarian mission to provide clean water to a village, Sawyer decided she wanted to help as well. The book details her goal to raise $50 – which provides a single person clean water for life in Zambia. She baked cookies and sold them at a garage sale. $188 later – she was just as determined to continue sharing the story of Brian (a boy in a village that was the inspiration for her good deeds) and working towards a larger goal. She wanted to build a well!
We won’t ruin the ending of the book, but do encourage you to purchase a copy (locally at Zandbroz or online at
)
The price of a single book gets matched a few times over and creates a value equal to that $50 which supplies a person with clean water for a lifetime. At a price tag of only $9.99 – you are getting quite a bargain.
Sawyer was kind enough to sign a copy for Amy Iler and JJ Gordon while she was in studio. Folks around the building picked it up and started reading, it was engaging adults as much as it engages kids.
