GRANDIN, N.D. (KFGO) – Fire damaged a grain dryer at the CHS Sunflower Processing Plant in Grandin, 30 miles north of Fargo. The Grandin-Gardner Fire Department responded to the fire, reported around 5 a.m. Monday and had a quick knockdown, but stayed on scene for several hours watching for hot spots.
A Cass County deputy said flames were clearly visible when he arrived on the scene. An employee reported the fire. Traill County Sheriff Steve Hunt said there were no injuries and a damage estimate is not available.
The dryer fire is the latest in a number of such fires this past fall and winter. The dryers have been running continuously, the result of the high moisture content of crops that were harvested in one of the wettest seasons in recent memory.
