FARGO (KFGO) – The lunch debt for all Fargo Public School students for the first semester will disappear thanks to an anonymous donor. The total was $28,672.85.
“Just with the generosity in our community, we had an individual step up and they were going to take care of all outstanding lunch debt that we have from the first half of this year, from the first semester,” Said Superintendent Rupak Gandhi. He said no student is denied a hot lunch, but the district must still keep track since those lunches are federally subsidized.
For the balance of the school year, Gandhi said several organizations have agreed to cover any outstanding lunch debt.
“We’ve been working with other community partners, they are going to be putting on other fundraising events to take care of any future outstanding events to take care of future outstanding lunch debt that we have,” Gandhi added.
