KATHRYN, ND (NewsDakota) – The search for Mark Davies of Valley City ended after authorities recovered his body inside his submerged vehicle on September 26th. Davies had been missing for five weeks. The last contact he had with family and friends was on August 23rd.
Earlier this week, Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin asked the US Army Corps of Engineers to lower the Sheyenne River so crews could recover the submerged vehicle.
The body and vehicle were recovered in the river near a bridge about a mile north of Kathryn, ND.
According to a news release by the Barnes County Sheriff’s office about 9am on September 26th a vehicle was located one mile north of Kathryn in the Sheyenne River. It appears the vehicle was traveling south on County Road 21. This vehicle left the roadway and entered the Sheyenne River. The vehicle that was recovered was registered to Mark Davies. The body was located inside his vehicle. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
