FARGO (KFGO) – The state racing commission has okayed two race weekends for the North Dakota Horse Park in Fargo after a dispute over the involvement of Susan Bala with the non-profit that runs the track.
Bala spent time in prison related to off-track betting. The conviction was overturned and she was released early. Bala stepped down and the commission approved races for July 19, 20, 27 and 28.
Originally, the commission had granted for four race weekends. Commission Executive Director Jack Schulz says despite fewer meets, the track should make a profit.
