ST. PAUL (KFGO) – Minnesota is raising speeds on many two-lane state highways from 55 to 60 mph.
The decision to raise the speed limit was made after the dot completed a five-year study. It studied 7,000 miles of highway and decided to raise speeds on 77 percent of them. Most of the new speed limit signs are already up. The rest will be up by spring.
The higher speed limit does not go into effect until the new sign is up on a particular stretch of road.
