Fargo, N.D. (KFGO) – A Cass County Corrections Deputy, who is on administrative leave, was arrested for DUI over the weekend.
The sheriff’s office says 40-year-old Burgess Giple of West Fargo was arrested for DUI around 4:05 a.m. Sunday by Fargo Police and taken to the Cass County Jail.
The sheriff’s office says Giple has been with the department for less than a year and was working as a non-licensed corrections deputy at the Cass County Jail.
Giple was already on administrative leave for a prior incident and was awaiting a predetermination hearing regarding the outcome. His DUI arrest will lead to a separate internal investigation.
Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner released the following statement after Giple’s arrest:
“In order to maintain the trust of the citizens we serve, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office will strive to be accountable and transparent in these types of situations. Although we realize that police officers can make mistakes, they are not above the law and need to maintain professionalism at all times and be held accountable when necessary. I want to thank the Fargo Police officers who investigated this incident while performing their duties in a professional manner.”
