MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO) – After a lengthy law enforcement career, including 16 years as Clay County Sheriff, Bill Bergquist is officially retired.
Family, friends and colleagues gathered at the new law enforcement center for Bergquist’s retirement party. Bergquist says he’s going to take it easy for awhile and says he hasn’t made any special plans for the future.
Bergquist was first elected sheriff in 2002. Prior to that, he was the Moorhead Police Dept’s DARE officer.
Newly-elected Sheriff Mark Empting says Bergquist has been a role model for him at the sheriff’s office and at the Dilworth Fire Dept.
