GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Authorities say one person has died in a crash in North Dakota during whiteout conditions.
North Dakota Highway Patrol Capt. Bryan Niewind says the accident involving three vehicles occurred shortly before 2 p.m. Monday on Interstate 29 about 20 miles south of Fargo.
The patrol says a truck and a van were traveling northbound in the right lane when another vehicle passed them, causing whiteout conditions. As the truck and van were slowing down, a semitrailer approached them from behind and struck the van, pushing it into the truck.
The patrol says the driver of the van was killed.
The crash remains under investigation and the victim’s name wasn’t immediately released.
