PENNINGTON, CO. MINN. (KFGO) – A fatal crash in northwestern Minnesota.
The State Patrol says the driver of an SUV ran a stop sign and collided with a vehicle at the intersection of a Pennington County road and U.S. Highway 1 east of Thief River Falls.
The driver of the SUV, 58-year old Gary Austad, of Lake Bronson, Minnesota, died at the scene. The patrol says his vehicle’s airbag did not deploy and he had been drinking
The 31-year old driver of the other vehicle and a 9-year old passenger, both of Roseau, were taken to Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls for treatment of minor injuries.
The crash happened at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday night.
