MOORHEAD, MINN. (KFGO) – A 25-year-old Fargo man was arrested in Moorhead for Burglary following a car crash.
Adriel Lewis was involved in the collision at the intersection of 12th Ave. and 17th St. South on Saturday. When police arrived a witness gave them a description of Lewis who left the scene of the crash on foot.
Lewis tried to flag down a responding officer in an unmarked squad car, but ran from the officer when he realized it was police.
Additional officers arrived and set up a perimeter. They tracked Lewis’ tracks in the fresh snow to a residential garage. After enrolling the help of a West Fargo K9, they discovered Lewis hiding in the rafters of the garage.
He would not cooperate with police so officers used a pepper ball launcher. After that didn’t work, they used a canister of pepper spray and brought him down.
Lewis was arrested for 2nd Degree Burglary, fleeing on foot, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash and obstructing the legal process. Formal charges from the Clay County Attorneys Office are pending
