MOORHEAD, MINN. (KFGO) – Police are looking for a man who used a hatchet in a carjacking in Moorhead early Thursday.
The victim reported he was sitting in his van in a parking lot near 5th Street and Main Avenue around 1:20 a.m. when a man brandishing a hatchet threatened him and stole the van.
Police Sgt. Joel Voxland tells KFGO News, about 10 minutes later, police found the van, unoccupied, just off 32nd Avenue South.
A K-9 track of the area was unsuccessful but police are following up on physical evidence that may help track down the suspect.
Voxland says the incident happened “very fast” and was “very traumatic” for the victim but he says the owner was able to give police a “vague description” of the carjacker, a white male, about 20-years old who may have not been wearing a shirt.
