Senator Nicole Mitchell
ST. PAUL – Republicans continue their push for Democratic Senator Nicole Mitchell to resign, and there were tense moments on Tuesday when Mazeppa Senator Steve Drazkoswki said he’s heard from multiple people, and asked Majority Leader Erin Murphy if she or any other member of her caucus asked Senator Mitchell to resign?
Murphy responded she was struck by the persistence of the Republican minority to spend their time as judge and jury. She said she “sensed a rush to judgment for a purpose not about integrity.” Murphy said she was not going to spend her time on the floor talking about conversations she’s had with members of the caucus in a caucus meeting.
Drazkowski responded if no one in the Democratic caucus asked Mitchell to resign, Murphy would have said “no” instead of “a complicated dodge.” Mitchell is charged with felony burglary for allegedly breaking into her stepmother’s home in Detroit Lakes.
