ST PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – Opponents didn’t have enough votes in the Minnesota state Senate this week to permanently cancel a wolf hunt in Minnesota, while backers couldn’t get enough votes to reinstate a hunting season if the gray wolf is taken off the Federal threatened species list.
Alexandria Republican Torrey Westrom says that people in some rural areas can’t leave children outside, and that cattle are being slaughtered by wolves.
Opponents of the wolf hunt argue that killing wolves won’t eliminate already rare wolf attacks on livestock.
Current Federal law allows killing a wolf only if a human’s life is in danger.
