GRAND FORKS, N.D. – With flooding unlikely this spring, the Grand Forks Engineering Department recommended the council hold off on awarding bids to assist in flood-fighting activities.
The city council received an update on the upcoming flood season Monday night. The latest analysis from the River Forecast Center suggests only a 40% chance of the Red River even hitting flood stage this spring.
The city typically awards bids for three projects: flood fighting, sandbags, and crushed concrete.
City Engineer Al Grasser says crews will monitor the situation and if something changes the city will bring the bids back for council approval.
