ST. PAUL, Minn. – Opponents of the new Minnesota state flag are planning a protest next week in St. Paul.
Republican Sen. Torrey Westrom of Alexandria says Minnesotans will gather for a rally on the Capitol steps Tuesday afternoon to save the current flag. Westrom is encouraging people to let elected officials know that the public should have the final say on replacing or keeping the state flag.
The new Minnesota flag and seal were approved by a state commission in December and are expected to become official on Statehood Day, May 11.
