Arlette Preston - Feb. 29, 2024
FARGO (KFGO) – Arlette Preston is running for re-election on the Fargo City Commission.
Preston says she will focus on affordable housing, government transparency, and long-term planning.
“We have about 40 years, with our current development pattern, until we hit the diversion. That growth has to be, probably, in a different way than we have traditionally grown – more dense, probably higher buildings with smaller footprints, and that will hopefully also make it more affordable,” Preston says.
Preston was most recently elected to the commission in 2020 and also served as a commissioner from 1992 to 2000. Preston was also on the school board from 2002 to 2006. She ran for mayor two years ago.
Several other people have expressed interest in running for the city commission. John Strand announced his candidacy earlier this month.
